About Me

Shropshire Landlady
Hopton House is a 4 star gold award B&B located in the very beautiful south Shropshire hills. Just 10 miles from Ludlow and close to the other market towns, Hopton House is located in some stunning countryside. All of the photos in my blog are taken at the B&B or in the surrounding area. As well as offering a luxurious B&B experience I also run training courses for people who want to set up their own B&B. Shropshire is still relatively unknown which means you can walk for miles without seeing another soul. We have 2 very comfortable rooms - both ensuite - and serve food made from the finest of local ingredients. Guests come here to rest, relax and recharge; whether this is done by walking, exploring the local villages, eating out at wonderful local eateries or throwing the ball for hours for our dogs!

Berry Smoothie

I like to offer guests a healthy option. We're bombarded with what is and isn't healthy these days but my smoothie probably should count in the very healthy ( and tasty ) bracket!

Current thinking says you should have at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day and 3 portions of dairy produce. I reckon my smoothie has at least 2 portions of fruit and 2 portions of dairy. And its such an easy way of getting that in at breakfast before you've really woken up enough to think about it.

Again like most of my recipes if you don't have the exact ingredients to hand then improvise with what you have. Using frozen fruit it cheaper and it's a great way of using up bananas that are past their best!

if you are dairy intolerant or trying to eat more soya it doesn't taste too bad with soya yoghurt and milk!

Berry Smoothie

About 250g fresh or frozen berries ( I'm using half and half blueberries and raspberries at the moment)
a medium sized banana
1 pot of natural yoghurt ( or fruit yoghurt if that's what you have )
1 tablespoon of honey
a glass of milk

Defrost the berries if you don't like it too cold. Put all ingredients in a blender and whizz till smooth.

Serves 2 people generously!
